I found this in my cloud storage. I wrote this poem I wrote in 2007 for my then boyfriend, now husband. Long before I called you husband, I called you home.
The only place I have ever called home is a 5 foot 9 son of Persia
Strong arms decorated with King Tut and the King of the Jungle
Hold me through every rough wind and violent storm
When the rain falls he catches the drops
Wipes the evidence and kisses the pain away
When I yearn for heaven he takes me there
Over and over again
Rocking me slowly
Soothing my soul
His eyes say all I ever need to hear
But his voice wakes my heart
Especially when he declares I’m his and his alone
He possesses a heart unlike any I have ever known
Amazing
Big
Tender and open
Wisdom far beyond a couple lifetimes
He is timeless
I love him for his ability to understand beyond understanding
It is true comprehension of my inner self
Unafraid to give me his all and accept mine in return
Unrelenting in his appreciation
I am, as he is
A gift from the most high
A thing to cherish
And this he knows
He is that longed for other half
The finishing piece
Up to my down
Laugh to my cry
Calm in my restlessness
Beautiful
That man is beautiful
