I am Not an Evergreen
I am not an evergreen tree, and, chances are, neither are you. Guess what? That’s okay. It means you and I will have many seasons of prosperity and renewal. It means our leaves will be bare sometimes. It means we will have long days of nothingness. That’s okay too. Because after those days of being bare and cold comes renewal and regrowth, and then abundance.
I am not an evergreen. I didn’t blossom in my twenties and live the high life. I didn’t publish that book and become a best-seller with a movie deal. Instead, I live a perfectly ordinary life of perfectly normal ups and downs, good years and not-so-good years.
It is okay that I am not an evergreen. Born green and lush, meant to remain so forever. Why am I okay with that? Well, I know that both my prosperity and my barren days shape who I am and serve a purpose. I may change with the seasons life throws at me, but I know that each season has a purpose. To me, that is better than being forever green. And, honestly, there is beauty in all the seasons.
