Hey folks! It’s Chante here with Lucas Massey, our leading man of Fate’s Calling. Luke granted us an interview so that we could get to know him better. We hope to invite other members of the Sunridge Pride series really soon. But we are lucky to have Sunridge’s enforcer with us today. And for all of you who didn’t know, Fate’s Calling was released this Sunday! Get your copy today and read all about our handsome tiger shifter. As always, we’re going to jump right in with the first question.
Have you ever been bullied or teased?
Bullied? Never. But I live with my best friends who I’ve known since elementary school, and I have over two dozen cousins so I’ve been teased mercilessly from time to time.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Lust at first sight, absolutely, but not love at first sight. Love needs something more substantial than eye line to develop.
Something like time?
Not necessarily. Commonalities and a strong connection will suffice.
Do you believe in soul mates?
Of course. I’m a shifter. Soul mates and fated mates are drilled into our heads practically from the day we are born. Though, I will say, shifters aren’t harping on fated mates as a means to survival anymore. It’s this antiquated thing that’s past down to us, much like Prince Charming is for human girls.
What are your ambitions?
My ambitions are pathetically simple. I want to live on my own terms, grow my business, and live in a tight-knit community where children are as safe and free as I was growing up. I’d consider myself lucky as hell if there’s a wife by my side.
Are you a minimalist or a hoarder?
Minimalist. It’s hard to think when you have junk everywhere. Also, I lost things that where very precious to me once. When that happens, you learn to be selective about what you hold on to.
When did you last lie and what was it?
I recently said I didn’t want something that I actually wanted desperately. And I pretended I wanted something that I didn’t.
Care to elaborate?
No.
What is your favorite animal?
Luke grins. Dragons.
If you could bring back one person from the dead, who would it be?
Jason’s mother. She was his guiding light in a lot of ways. He loved his father, of course, but he told his mother everything. She was his home base. Without her, he… I don’t know. Jason isn’t quite Jason without her.
You lost your father around the same time, right? Why not bring him back?
I love my dad and miss him every day. But I would have turned out this way whether he lived or not. I can’t say the same for Jay. His mother was both the feathers in his wings and his anchor if that makes sense.
What is in your fridge?
Beer, wine, sodas, half and half, milk, eggs, a ton of bacon, yogurt for Harmony, canned biscuit dough for Blake, usually thawed meat for the next meal, and fruit.
What haunts you?
Not being good enough.
For what?
Anything and everyone.
What bad habits do you have?
I’ll put it this way, curiosity killed the cat, but it also made him a damn good investigator.
Do they have any tattoos?
No. I want two, but I just haven’t had the time or the right motivation to get them.
What is your strongest character trait?
I always want to do the right thing for the greatest good, which is not always easy to discern or execute. And I truly do believe that love conquers all.
What is your weakest character trait?
Despite all the evidence to the contrary, I still naively believe love can conquer all. It can change even the most hardened heart, although I know full well that some people simply cannot, and in fact refuse, to be saved. It makes me give more chances than is prudent.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Leave Sunridge, buy a shit ton of land and start my own damn pride with my friends.
